WallCOMP© - A tool for exterior wall embodied carbon calculation.

WallCOMP© is an excel spreadsheet tool for use in the early design phase, and was developed to allow multiple exterior wall compositions to be evaluated to help minimize the embodied carbon of the exterior enclosure. Each wall type is composed of eight layers that allow different wall compositions to be created. Using the attributes of each material chosen, four properties of the wall are created: total thickness, R-value, GWP for stages A1-A5, and GWP for stages A-C. A simple graphic of the wall is created to depict the results and allow review of the composition.

WallCOMP has MACROS so it needs to be downloaded into a conditioned file using the following procedure:

In order to use WallCOMP© you will need to unblock the file using the following steps:

1. Download the EXCEL file – it will go to your download folder (don’t open it yet).

2. Open your downloads folder.

3. Right click the file you downloaded.

4. Select Properties.

5. At the bottom of the Properties tab, select Unblock.

6. Select Apply and then OK.

7. The EXCEL file is ready to use.
